anachronistic radiowaves

listen to the complete show of anachronistic radiowaves [5years anachronism] again
jump to artist:

In October we managed to sneak in an event, that was great. November we had to cancel, less great. December we went almost live from the Schwankhalle. For this would-have-been event of February we have decided to do something else.

The anachronoid crew has scoured the immense archives of the mothership for a tasty selection of sonic experiences from previous anachronistic nights. These selections combined with chatting around with the crew about what has been; comes; is; was; will be mixed up in a 3 hour journey streamed on the notorius Radio Angrezi on Wednesday the 10th of 2021 at 21:00 CET.

In order of appearance:

Kazehito Seki 14/12/2017
... belongs to a particular scene in Japan, influenced by hardcore music, subculture, and what a western would see as Tokyo's sonic ghetto culture. Kazehito's approach to the voice as an instrument demonstrates his flexibility, oscillating between subtle sinewaves and brutal white noise in a microsecond

Laure Boer 11/02/2020
... combines the expected and the unexpected. As much music as ritual, performance as spell, Boer fittingly describes her sound as 'witchtronic'. Out of sonic abstraction emerges a system of beat, chirrup and hum, then from nowhere a voice, singing or reciting in her native French. Coming from a musical family (her mother and father were opera singer and choir director, respectively), she directs her instruments-a sprawling table full of small wooden utensils, clattering metallic objects, and stringed artefacts-to perform, pushing them into strange shapes, odd contortions, and sometimes startling beauty.

Mikael Tobias 12/11/2019
...is a Canadian musician, composer, producer and sound artist currently based in Copenhagen, DK. His work explores the liminal space between conscious and unconscious resonance, using sonic architecture as an extension of the material environment. Blending organic instrumentation, digital manipulation and deconstructed elemental sound, Tobias creates an expanse where perception is constantly on the verge: just within grasp while slightly out of reach, simultaneously becoming and dissolving.

KvT 06/10/2020
.. are a duo that shape ephemeral soundscapes from the overlapping churn of single simple elements - voice, resonance, repetition, movement, memory. Having recently completed a tour in central Europe together with Agente Costura and Otolitos, they have become renowned for their 'play anywhere' approach, using battery-powered equipment to present work in any and all locations. This stripped-down palette has led to a singular focus on the worlds of sound that can be layered and stitched together from voices, loop pedals, layered resonance, and emergent drone - all undertaken with hand-carried amplifiers, that allow a spatialised, context-aware live presentation that never repeats the same way.

(SIC) 09/02/2017
"is an improvisation project by Julian Bonequi and Rodrigo Ambriz, hybridizes savage percussion and extreme vocals into spasmic states and possessive sensations. It ritualistically detonates the primitive and the ecstatic, intuition and self-induced alienation, the bold and the subtle through a series of short, explosive vignettes."

Cyann 15/02/2018
... shapes an earnest and bleak beauty through experimental and atmospheric soundscapes. The solo project of French born Alex Simon is a heavily dark matter, analysing the sonic depths of sound. Her unique voice swims like a sunken wale through an ocean of piano layers. Everything is full of electronic noises, glitches and broken beats. Music of sombre and pure, fragile beauty...

... Dem Klang nachgehen. Verschiedene Sprachen/Stimmen zusammenfgen. Den Gesang suchen. Atem. Rhythmus.

... is the solo project of the Polish, Berlin based musician Michal Krajczok. It is improvised electronic music made with a modular synthesizer, a small setup based on one oscillator, a few sampler modules and the bass drum. The improvisation is evolving very quickly, with fast pattern progression, interaction and shifting both in rhythmical and melodic terms. It is a rather loud and saturated, fast and chaotic music project.
